Speaking of Science: Promoting Academic Conversation

OVERVIEW

How do we empower all students to speak with confidence in our classrooms? Current research is clear on the benefits of getting students talking about the content. It helps our students become better readers and writers, has a significant impact on retention and prepares them for the real world! This interactive, engaging session is full of practical, ready-to-use strategies to promote academic conversation with all students.

DESCRIPTION & OBJECTIVES

In this session, participants have the opportunity to:

•Consider the research related to the significance and best practices for academic conversation in the classroom

•Experience strategies and tools to promote and enhance academic conversation

•Reflect on how to implement tools and practices in their particular context

Up to 50 participants per session

Handouts/Materials

We provide all training materials and a booklet for each participant. Each attendee will also receive a digital download of all resources used in training with a single-teacher license to use the materials with their students.
